Focal Point Gallery is delighted to be hosting an exhibition by the French photographer Chrystel Lebas. Her sumptuous landscapes hold a mystical and even psychological significance and are often linked to childhood memories, legends and fairy tales. The images in the show are taken from the two series, Abyss and Blue Hour; the work being a culmination of the last five years. As part of the programme, we are also inviting artists from our pool of tutors to make new work in response to Chrystel Lebas' work. There will be an exhibition on our education walls and in DVD screenings at venues around the town.

Showcasing the works of over 40 contemporary artists, and designer makers, the 2010 Leigh Art Trail opens its 9 day event on Saturday 12th June, warmly welcoming visitors and residents alike.

The annual Art Trail provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a relaxed and cultural experience.  Just 40 miles from London (with excellent links by rail from Fenchurch Street) the coastal town of Leigh on Sea with its estuary views and vibrant artistic community has understandably inspired artists for many generations.

Visitors to the Trail can discover, view and purchase works created by local, national and internationally renowned artists in venues less commonly associated with traditional exhibitions.   Proud of its artistic community, businesses have again shown their considerable support in proudly partnering exhibitors.  2010 venues vary from shops, bars, leisure and retail outlets to home-based, commercial and collaborative art studios.

This year’s selection of contemporary and imaginative art - for exhibition and for sale - include paintings, jewellery, photography, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, mosaics, pottery inspired works exploring the use of mixed media.
